Our history
We have been serving our customers for over 80 years. In the beginning there was the craft business. Monoblocs, fans and ventilation ducts were built in the workshop in Basel, but automation gradually replaced traditional manufacturing. System engineering came to the fore: a bundle of complex processes with the aim of assembling all components on the construction site to create a reliable overall system. Because no two systems are the same, the customer needs a customised tailor: E. Kalt AG.

Second management buy-out successful:
Together with the shareholders, the management succeeds in resolving the succession internally and thus ensuring the continuation of
E. Kalt AG as an independent company.
2021
Management change in the service company as a whole:
Beat Leuenberger takes over the operational management of the General Services department from Markus Schneider and becomes a member of the Executive Board.
2020
Handover of staff in the Basel and Gümligen technical offices
Enver Fejzulahi takes over the management of the Basel Technical Office from Beat Marrer and becomes part of the Executive Board.
Christian Walther takes over the management of the Gümligen technical office from Daniel Künzi and becomes part of the Executive Board.
2013
Management change in the service company as a whole:
Markus Schneider takes over from Hans Lüthi as operational manager of the Corporate Services department and becomes a member of the Executive Board.
2011
Management change at the Gümligen technical office:
Daniel Künzi takes over the management of the Gümligen technical office from Hubert Poffet and becomes part of the management team.
2005
First successful management buy-out:
Together with Peter E. Kalt, son of founder Edi Kalt, the management succeeds in organising the succession with a management buy-out. This secures the continuation of E. Kalt AG as an independent company.
1993
Commissioning of the first 3D CAD systems.
1979
Name change to E. Kalt AG, air conditioning and energy technology.
1965
Foundation of the French subsidiary CCC, Cie. Climatechnique Colmar S.à r.l. with a view to the European Economic Community (EEC). The company is liquidated in 2006.
1958
Foundation of the branch office in Gümligen.
1943
Edi Kalt founds E. Kalt Aktiengesellschaft in Basel, a company specialising in air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration systems.
Business commences on 1 September 1943 in the offices at Schifflände 3 and in the workshop at St. Alban-Tal 35.
